Student Success: Kyanna Martinez (NM)
Kyanna Martinez ('21 DVM), a third year veterinary student, is interested in small animal and wildlife medicine. Originally from New Mexico, she has always been a lover of animals, the outdoors, and all the wildlife she would encounter. She got her bachelor's degree in Animal Science and the Companion Animal Sciences from New Mexico State University before applying to the WIMU Regional Program. As a WSU veterinary student, she has volunteered in the Grizzly Bear Research Facility, is a member of the Veterinary Business Management Association, Shelter Medicine Club, and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Blood Transfusion Team. Kyanna was also the recipient of the Myrtle MacClennan Scholarship in 2018. When she graduates in 2021, Kyanna plans to work in private practice and wildlife medicine back in her home state of New Mexico. In her spare time she enjoys hiking and photography with her two dogs, Milo and Halo.
