Will the application deadlines be impacted by the pandemic?
No, we have made no changes to application deadlines for our program. Please visit our Admissions Timeline for additional information and updates.
Do you still require the GRE?
No. Beginning with the 2021-2022 admissions cycle (entering Fall 2022), the GRE will no longer be required as part of the admissions process. GRE scores will not be evaluated with your application and should not be submitted to our program.
Do you still require a DVM LOR?
All applicants are required to obtain a minimum of three letters of recommendation (submitted directly from the evaluator through VMCAS), and at least one must be from a veterinarian. It is recommended but not required that one LOR be from an academic (e.g., professor, teaching assistant, laboratory instructor, academic advisor) who can speak to the applicant’s academic abilities.
What if I am unable to gain additional experience due to the pandemic and have low experience hours?
Please use the explanation statement area on the VMCAS application to describe how COVID-19 has impacted your ability to gain experience hours.
How do I address the impact of COVID-19 on my application?

Yes, our program will accept pass/fail grades for all courses (prerequisites and other) during this time. Please use the explanation statement area on the VMCAS application to briefly mention that your institution moved to a pass/fail system because of COVID-19.
If my school gives me a choice, is it better to take a letter grade, or a pass/fail grade?
It is up to you to decide whether or not to utilize your institution’s pass/fail option. We highly recommend contacting an academic advisor at your institution to determine how a change in grading systems may affect your academic history. Our Admissions Committee will not view pass/fail grades negatively.
