Student Success: Elena Kremer
Elena Kremer (’18 DVM) is a third year veterinary student at Washington State University with an interest in mixed animal practice and research. Originally from San Diego, Elena received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of San Diego. Upon graduation from USD, she moved to Spain to teach English. Unlike many other veterinary students, Elena did not originally know she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Once she decided to put her globe-trotting aside, she buckled down to pursue her path to becoming a veterinarian. After visiting WSU, she knew it was the place she wanted to be – it already felt like home, and the community feel of the school was warm and welcoming. In addition to her full time job as a veterinary student, Elena is an officer in the small ruminant and neurology clubs. She is also a research scholar, partaking in a research project with thoroughbred race horses – an exciting endeavor combining her childhood love of horses with research. Elena cannot say enough about the diverse array of opportunities the WSU veterinary college has to offer. Veterinary medicine is a profession that is so multifaceted, and Elena is excited to see what the future holds for her. At the moment she has too many interests to pick just one! Outside of the veterinary curriculum, Elena enjoys running with her dog Huck, cooking, and spending as much time outdoors as weather will allow!
