Student Success: Jacob Ceniceros
Jacob Ceniceros (’17 DVM), a third year veterinary student at Washington State University, plans on returning to his home state of New Mexico to practice mixed animal medicine after graduating with his DVM in 2017. Although Jacob has always had a passion for veterinary medicine, he originally planned on majoring in education to teach physical education and coach football at the high school level. After a semester of undergraduate courses, he realized that he was meant to pursue a different career. Jacob changed his major to Animal Science and began the journey of his lifelong dream to becoming a veterinarian.
Jacob chose to attend WSU CVM because of the supportive learning environment and family feel. Family has always been an essential part of Jacob’s life, and although his is 1500 miles away, he has made friendships in veterinary school that he considers his second family. Jacob works for the Animal Resource Unit division of the school during the summer and on occasion during the school year, where he assists with the care of research animals around campus. In his spare time Jacob likes to watch football with his dogs, Buzz and Jessie.
