Student Success: Jessica Scherr
Third year veterinary student at Washington State University, Jessica Scherr (’18 DVM) has wanted to be a veterinarian as long as she can remember. Originally from Great Falls, Montana, where she grew up running around her family’s veterinary clinic, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 2014. Over the years, she worked as an assistant in small animal clinics where she gained more experience and continued to pursue her passion. Upon her first visit to Washington, Jessica loved the atmosphere of the faculty and students at WSU, as well as the capabilities of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital that are offered at WSU. As part of the first class of students through the new WIMU in Montana, Jessica gained valuable hands-on experience and a once in a lifetime opportunity to help build a new program in Montana. Now on the Pullman campus, Jessica is part of the social chair on the student council, became the treasurer for the Neurology Club at WSU, and serves as a student ambassador. After graduation, Jessica looks forward for the opportunity to work in a small animal / mixed practice where she will continue her education in her dream career. When she is not busy at WSU, you can find Jessica hiking, kayaking, playing soccer, and running with her dog Tina.
