Student Success: Katherine Martucci
Katherine Martucci (’14 BS, ’17 DVM) is a third year veterinary student interested in neurology, behavior, research, and teaching. She has been interested in the interplay between behavior and medicine from a very young age and has received bachelor’s degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology from the WSU Honors College in pursuit of those interests. Katherine’s current research projects focus on behavior and learning in humans and animals as well as injuries and surgical treatments in performance dogs. In her spare time, Katherine gives demonstrations across the state on positive, science-based animal training techniques and competes with her own three dogs (a shih-tzu, border collie, and golden retriever) in a variety of sports. When not spending time outdoors with her own pets, she enjoys volunteering to help shelter dogs and teaching children in local animal interest groups. Upon completing her DVM, Katherine hopes to continue with further graduate studies and then pursue an academic position.
